I am, right now, installing Debian GNU/Linux on a VMWare Server instance running on Windows Server 2003, through a VMWare Server Console running on Windows XP Pro, running under Parallels Workstation for Mac OS X, on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.4.6. H, F, S.

Recent Acquisitions:

  • Orchestralli, Stewart Copeland - Live, pop, with a bit of a jazz feel; Excellent orchestrations, although it has its weak spots. Copeland is, without a doubt, one of the finest drummers I’ve ever heard.
  • Franz Ferdinand and You Could Have It So Much Better, Franz Ferdinand - Alternative, post-punk rock; Good stuff, but tires a bit after repeat listening. Luckily, I don’t listen to the radio, as evidenced by the fact that I’d never heard of these guys until 3 weeks ago.
  • The Horse Whisperer (Original Score), Thomas Newman - Classical movie score; Some beautiful themes, but seems incomplete without the movie’s gorgeous scenery.

Parallels Workstation for Mac OS X Beta 5 is out. This is, hands down, the fastest VM I’ve ever used for Windows XP. Of course, the hardware I’m running it on is nothing to shake a stick at…

Rediscovered treasures:

  • Made in Medina, Rachid Taha - Algerian/French Pop/Beat music, truly wonderful.
  • Mezzanine, Massive Attack - Trip-hop meets chill-out; timeless, accessible, and haunting at times.
  • Supa Dupa Fly, Missy Elliot - Hip-hop; Way ahead of its time, I’m now finally starting to appreciate this one.

Happenings

Like a broken record, I’m attempting to once again revive my blog. Some updates…

  • I’ve upgraded to K2, and modified my header image to fit. I had to drop the green-ish background for the sidebar. It just didn’t work right with the new layout.
  • As a result of the above, I’ve got a lot of nice new features and icons to play with, asides being one that I’m very excited about.
  • I’ve upgraded to Gallery 2 (finally), integrated it with Wordpress, and themed (1, 2) it to fit in nicely with K2.
  • As a result of the above, I decided to start fresh with my pictures, thus I’ve only gotten pictures of interest to family up. More to come, though.
  • I’ve upgraded to a Macbook Pro 2GHz. Wow. More on that later.

Enjoy.
