On the move

Well, I’m currently homeless, or, more accurately, "between houses". I just realized the preceeding sentence contains 4 commas. Cool.

After an exhausting two days of packing, moving, and cleaning, we’re finally on a "vacation" of sorts. We’re down in Rehoboth Beach, with Kiersten’s father, relaxing and hanging out until we can move into our new house. It’s very nice down here, and my favorite activity invovles sitting on his back porch either watching the birds or playing cards with my family. It’s just a nice getaway, and I’ve only had one phone call from work! Yay!

The respite of work, phone calls, and house paperwork has given me time to remember something I noticed last weekend. We we’re swiming at my mother-in-law’s house, and in playing with my son, I saw in his face the man he would become. It was both wonderful and frightening. I began to realize what little time I have left to play with him and spend time with him. While it hasn’t quite sparked a total change in me, it did kick my butt into gear. We’re now spending more time "playing" together, and it’s been really great. I just hope I can motivate myself to come out of my shell, and spend some real quality time with him before he’s "too cool" to spend time with his "old man".
