I know this title is a song lyric (well, technically, it’s a sample).
I picked up the new Back to Mine album by Oribtal the other day. It’s quite good. I have another album in the Back to Mine series by Everything but the Girl, so I thought I had an idea what to expect. Well, the Oribtal album is very different from the ETBG one. I can tell you though, that their influences really shine through. It’s a good disc, and I’d recommened it to any Oribtal fan (of which I am a huge one).
As a side note, I was reading a review of this album over at CDnow.com, and a line from Peter Gaston’s review made me laugh out loud, because it pretty much sums up the whole idea of the Back to Mine series.
The rapidly expanding Back to Mine series has fast become a proving ground upon which the heavy-hitters of electronic music out-dork each other.
On a related note to the above mentioned song lyric/sample, this is a really cool site. I would never have imagined that Blade Runner is the most frequently sampled movie or TV series in music today. Neat.
