…is over!

Disclaimer: If you haven’t read the preceeding post, this one will make little to no sense at all.

Well, the big day has come and gone. Everything went great. We walked into a medium-sized conference room as normal people, and walked out 90 minutes later as homeowners. Settlement was smooth, painless, and quick, totally defying all the stories I’ve heard about how long settlements take. Because of this, I’m starting to wonder if we missed something…

Oh, and I won the "debate". Hehehe…

The big day…

Well, today’s the big day Kiersten and I go to settlement on our house. I’m very excited, but I’m also somewhat nervous. Mostly, I’m just not looking forward to signing papers for 2 hours. I guess I’ll just suck it up and deal with, as it will be totally worth it in the end.

We also get to do a pre-settlement walkthrough. Kiersten and I have this ongoing "debate" over the color of the upstairs carpet, and I’m looking forward to proving her wrong settling it.

Hug your net admin!

Just read on Slashdot that Friday is System Administrator Appreciation Day. Seems some guy made it up 3 years ago, and it has been growing in popularity ever since (probably helped along by the dotcom boom). Seeing as how I’m a sysadmin, I can’t help but smile at this. I think I may need to anonymously send a link to this site to my boss.

Anyway, check out the site. Lots of great gift suggestions, as well as some hilarious links (if you’re into geek humor, that is). And don’t forget to thank your IT guy on Friday (preferably with large sums of cash, or at least some good chocolate).

Site updates

I’ve been tweaking up the code a bit for the site. Things are starting to look a little more polished. I really like the catagory icons, however MS Internet Explorer users may notice they don’t look quite right. It would seem MSIE can’t handle PNG transparancy very well, so some of the icons look like they have a white background, instead of blending into the page like they’re supposed to. Hopefully MS will fix this in IE6 SP1, but don’t count on it. In the meantime, may I recommend IE users switch to a real browser?

Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day

I know this title is a song lyric (well, technically, it’s a sample).

I picked up the new Back to Mine album by Oribtal the other day. It’s quite good. I have another album in the Back to Mine series by Everything but the Girl, so I thought I had an idea what to expect. Well, the Oribtal album is very different from the ETBG one. I can tell you though, that their influences really shine through. It’s a good disc, and I’d recommened it to any Oribtal fan (of which I am a huge one).

As a side note, I was reading a review of this album over at CDnow.com, and a line from Peter Gaston’s review made me laugh out loud, because it pretty much sums up the whole idea of the Back to Mine series.

The rapidly expanding Back to Mine series has fast become a proving ground upon which the heavy-hitters of electronic music out-dork each other.

On a related note to the above mentioned song lyric/sample, this is a really cool site. I would never have imagined that Blade Runner is the most frequently sampled movie or TV series in music today. Neat.

It’s been a long time comin’

I don’t know why, but I swear that title is a song lyric…

It’s been quite some time since I’ve updated the site, mostly because of procrastination. Anyway, I hope to keep updates coming several times a week from hear on out.

I’m working on my <geek> section now, and I hope to put up a section of my site devoted to my new, favorite Linux distribution, Gentoo. I know, just two months ago I was saying how I really liked SuSE, and I do. In the end, though, it was just too much. However, in Gentoo, I have truly found a replacement for Debian.
