I spent the evening messing with my computer again. I ended up installing SuSe Linux v8. All I can say is, “Wow, what a nice distribution”. I had to fight with it a bit to get it installed, as is typical of most Linux distro’s on my machine because of my wireless stuff. However, once I had that whipped, the rest of the setup was a breeze. KDE 3 is fantastic. Fast, stable, functional, pretty, the whole nine. I think I’ve found a new favorite distribution. I’ve always been a huge Debian fan, but lately they’ve fallen behind the curve in new software, and it’s always a major pain to get everything setup just right (ALSA anyone?). Don’t get me wrong, the DEB packaging format and APT-GET still kick ass, but SuSe just works, and it works good. I’ll post a little page later this week detailing my install and thoughts for those interested…
